SMALL SYSTEMS
MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP The
Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association is again
sponsoring a Management Training Scholarship. The scholarship will be
awarded for 2007 to a supervisory or management person working in a
small-or medium-sized water utility (those serving a population of
12,000 persons or fewer). The only qualification is that the applicant
must be an employee of a water utility in Colorado, Wyoming, or New
Mexico.
The scholarship is
awarded annually to allow awardees to attend the AWWA-sponsored
institute at the University of
Utah. The institute is an intensive, interactive, five-day
workshop aimed at providing primary instruction and practical training
in management and leadership techniques to help water and wastewater
managers effectively meet the demands confronting utilities in the
contemporary setting. The exact dates of the training vary each
year, but are typically held between January and April.
A committee has been
set up to receive and review the applications and select an award
recipient. Application deadline is
July 1, 2008.
The scholarship will
pay for costs associated with tuition for one course, room, board, and travel
up to a limit of $2,000. Contact
