Committee Purpose
To acknowledge outstanding work by utilities and individuals in providing safe drinking water.
Committee Responsibilities
Solicit and review nominations for the annual Section awards listed below.
Applications are due June 15th of each calendar year, with the exception of an August 15th deadline for the National Award pre-nominations.
This is an excellent way to say thanks to one of your fellow utility employees or treatment plant or laboratory operations and for them to be recognized by their peers in the industry. The forms only take a few minutes to complete. The winners will be recognized at the annual conference in September.
We appreciate your involvement and participation in the RMSAWWA Awards and Scholarship Program. Please note, however, that the award winners from 2012 will not be eligible to win again this year (2013). You may apply again for consideration next year (2014).
This award is to recognize an outstanding water treatment plant operator within the Rocky Mountain Section of American Water Works Association. It is awarded annually to recognize a water treatment plant operator for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork.
Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Award
This award is to recognize an outstanding water treatment plant maintenance person within the Rocky Mountain Section of American Water Works Association. It is awarded annually to recognize a maintenance person for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork.
Distribution System Operator Award
This award is to recognize an outstanding distribution system operator within the Rocky Mountain Section of American Water Works Association. It is awarded annually to recognize a water distribution system operator for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork.
Outstanding Water Treatment Plant Award
This award is to recognize an outstanding treatment plant within the Rocky Mountain Section of American Water Works Association. It is awarded annually to recognize a water treatment plant for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork.
This award is to recognize an outstanding water laboratory within the Rocky Mountain Section of American Water Works Association. It is awarded annually to recognize a water laboratory for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork.
The Alice Darilek Award is to recognize an outstanding contributor to the water conservation field within the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association. It is named in honor of Alice Darilek, whose dedicated work in New Mexico helped water conservation efforts throughout the region. The is awarded annually to recognize a water conservation professional for exceptional performance and commitment to water conservation in the region.
The Outstanding Student Chapter Award is to recognize a student chapter for its efforts in support of the missions of RMSAWWA and RMWEA during the school year.
Small System Management Scholarship
Given to a supervisory or management professional working in a small or medium-sized utility to attend the AWWA Management Institute at the University of Utah.
Given to encourage young professionals to seek higher education in water related field in honor of James B. Warner. Given to students who are at least a Junior in college pursuing a water related field.
The Associate's Scholarship was developed by RMSAWWA to encourage operator's seeking to complete their associate's degree in a water-related field. The scholarship is for $1,000 and is given annually by RMSAWWA.
